Kenyans in Queensland Shine at 2025 Africa Day Celebrations in Queensland
The 2025 Africa Day Celebrations held in Queensland brought together a colourful tapestry of cultures, communities, and leaders — and the Kenyans in Queensland community stood proudly at the heart of it all.
Hosted under the umbrella of the Queensland African Communities Council (QACC), the event was a resounding success, drawing participation from African diaspora groups across the state, as well as local government representatives and community stakeholders. The celebration marked a moment of unity, recognition, and cultural pride — with Kenya’s vibrant presence impossible to miss.
From traditional attire and Swahili sounds to the spirited energy of Kenyan families and youth, the Kenyan community played a visible and vital role in this year’s festivities. Attendees were treated to a dynamic program that included live performances, cultural showcases, community awards, and a rich selection of African cuisine.

President Faysel and the QACC organising team were widely praised for their seamless execution of the event, which successfully blended celebration with reflection — honouring Africa’s journey, diversity, and the ongoing contributions of its diaspora communities in Australia.
In attendance were state and federal leaders, who commended the African community for its unity and growing impact across Australia. For many Kenyans in attendance, the event was also a powerful reminder of home — a chance to connect, celebrate heritage, and pass cultural pride onto younger generations.
